Breda & Gary

This blog post will give you a little insight into the wedding day of Miss Breda Treanor and Gary O’ Reilly.  This couple hail from neighbouring parishes; Truagh and Scotstown.  These two parishes have a long and colourful history when it comes to sporting encounters, but on a breezy day in April of this year, guests from Truagh and Scotstown came together for a “love match” (see what I did there??? Ba boom! 🙂 )  On the morning of the wedding, the Treanor household was awash with all of the paraphernalia that is associated with weddings; flowers, frocks, makeup, overnight bags and even the odd bottle of rescue remedy was floating about.  The Treanor ladies, were very relaxed.  No jittery nerves here!  We then headed off to Tydavnet for the wedding ceremony.  Once I skipped inside the Chapel, I was greeted by an “insider” who told me about a “big surprise” that Gary had for Breda.  Gary had a very special wedding present for Breda.  I was intrigued.  I was instructed to capture the moment that Gary made the big reveal.  No pressure!  Following a beautiful ceremony, Breda & Gary made their way to the main Chapel door, where Gary tempted Breda out onto the windswept steps  . . . and there it was;  Gary’s wedding present to Breda.  You might be thinking; a necklace, some perfume perhaps.  Shoes?  Nope.  Gary O’Reilly gave his new bride an antique restored mini car.  A car!  Yip.  And not just any old car . . . a gorgeous mini.  Well done Gary.  Everybody was mighty impressed!

En route to the Four Seasons hotel for the wedding reception, we stopped for a few photographs in the village of Ballinode.  The elements played nice for this period of the day, and we managed to get some really fun shots.  Taking photographs of Breda & Gary in the middle of a local village demonstrated how popular these two love birds are.  I think we had a “beep” and a “honk” from every single passing car that day.  The funny thing was, these people weren’t just being polite.  Gary knew ALL of them, and could identify each car owner 🙂  You might think that taking photographs in the middle of a local village might not be intimate or fun, but couldn’t be further from the truth.  Gary & Breda think the world of each other, and it’s clear for all to see.

The wedding celebrations continued in the Four Seasons hotel, Monaghan, where the bridal party had prepared a special surprise for their first dance together; “The 8 hand reel”.  Breda is a very talented Irish Dancer and we danced together for many years. It is funny how life turns out. At the age of 9 when I was lining up beside Breda, in Clara hall, for the hop jig competition . . . never once did I think that I would have the honour of capturing her wedding day memories.  Lucky me!  Ok, enough my nattering and reminiscing.  Next thing I’ll be telling you about our bus journeys to Latton Feis  . . . .
