As the rain beats on the window and the fire is crackling, I sit here to write a post about a wedding that happened on one of the nicest days of our Summer. This post is about Jacinta & Joey’s wedding, who are both great friends of myself and Paul. These very kind souls knew that my workload was all shades of crazy over the last few months, and encouraged me to “take my time” with the editing. I certainly took my time, I wanted to get these images just right. There is nothing like the looming christmas holiday to spur me on, to get these images all finished up.
I’ve known both of these dudes for a very long time and strangely enough, I’ve known the groom for the longest time. I’ve known Joseph Coll from my first day in baby infants in Corracrin NS. I’d know his cheeky grin, at a 100 paces. My lasting memory of Joey throughout our school days, was seeing him with his head stuck in the art cupboard, trying to get his hands on the paints and anything art related. You see, Joey is a very talented artist. Even in our naive childhood, where; having shiny Kellogg’s reflectors on your bike was considered “cool” and “ahead of the pack”, we all knew that Joey could draw, and we thought that was pretty “cool”. Little did we think that this “good drawing” on a Friday afternoon during art, would pave the way for Joey’s successful career and profession.
When Mr Coll started dating Miss Jacinta Clerkin, well that was couldn’t have been more perfect! Jacinta is a good friend from Secondary school, and she is more than capable of keeping up with the wit and humour of Mr Coll. Jacinta is kind and considerate . . . but without any fuss. She is relaxed, and goes with the flow. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this lady get very stressed about anything. She has the very best attitude, and is never seen without a smile on her face. She is like the ying to my yang . . . as in; I can be a stress-ball who over analyses things (I’m being kind to myself here!!), but a quick word with this lady, brings me back to my senses and reminds me that I am indeed . . . crazeeee!
So, anyhow, isn’t this blog post about a wedding? Of course it is! The wedding of “Cinta” and Jo eeeee” as Donnacha calls them . . . was an absolute delight! It was held on one of the hottest days of the year. I don’t know what to say about photographing this wedding, other than it was just “easy”. I was of course nervous and trying to do the best possible job for JC & JC, but seriously with this couple . . . I didn’t even have to try. Jacinta & Joey are madly in love. It’s plain and clear for all to see. It’s the way they grin at each other. It’s the way they don’t even have to speak to each other, and they both smile as if the other knows what they are thinking. I could have created an entire blog post entitled; “how to ignore the fuss on your wedding day and just smile at your beloved”. Weddings can be stressful, but this couple sailed through their day. I’ve been dying to get a bridal party up into the hills of Bragan, and Jacinta & Joey helped me fulfil this wish. I’m not going to lie to you, when I was editing these photos . . . I was grinning at the screen like a cheshire cat and sending a bazillion imessage photos to Jacinta of what I was editing. I’m sure I had her head totally distracted!! Jacinta was just a stunning bride. I found it nearly impossible to cull images from this wedding, mostly because I have about a million solo images of Jacinta looking fan-tab-u-mazing (yes, I just made that word up). I don’t think she can take a bad picture (don’t you just hate that!!!) I bet people will find images from this wedding in 50 years time, and declare “that bride was just timelessly beautiful”!
If I don’t finish this blog post up, I’ll have to start putting in chapters. So . . . in conclusion, Jacinta and Joey are some of my very closest friends. They have helped myself and Paul celebrate the very best days in life and they have been there for us, when some days weren’t just as easy. It was an honour, a delight and just plain lovely to get the opportunity to photograph your wedding. I hope you enjoy my effort x
